Question

I can't take both Child Tax Credit and Foreign Income Exclusion. I get more with Child Tax Credit. Can I choose it instead?

It also asks if I have ever qualified for the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion but opted not to take it. What is the downside to not taking it?

You are not required to use the FEIE, however, if  you have used it in the past and are still eligible for it, you have to revoke it and then cannot use it for 5 years.
