The wrong box where? On your tax return? In TurboTax? In one of the tools on the IRS web site? Are you talking about the child tax credit on your tax return or the advance child tax credit payments? Exactly where did you check the wrong box, and what were the choices?

Are you referring to the box up near the top of your Form 1040 which can be checked for the child tax credit or the credit for other dependents? The data that you entered about your dependent is what determined which one of those boxes was checked. Did you enter some information about your child incorrectly? How old is your child? Did you enter the child's Social Security number? Did you say the child lived with you the whole year----or at least for over half the year?
