Do you have high medical bills?  You are only able to deduct the qualified medical expenses that exceed 7.5% of your Adjusted Gross Income.  So for example if you had $30,000 of income, you would not be able to deduction medical expenses until you exceeded $2,250 of medical expenses.  Additional, this deduction only applies if you are itemizing your deductions.  If you are using the standard deduction, this is irrelevant.

Not having your medical bills it usually not a problem because you could easily get statements from your doctors, care providers, pharmacy's, etc.

So if you have high medical bills and are able to itemize, it would be worth taking the effort to call your providers to get the statements to include the expenses.
