Question

I do not have a mortgage, however, Qualified Mortgage Insurance Premiums Smart Worksheet is not pre-populating line B (Amount from Form 1040, line 11). workaround?

line E is then computed as a -10.0.

    The mortgage insurance premium deduction has expired for tax years 2022 and later, and can no longer be claimed.  

     

    Is this particular worksheet entry causing an issue in another part of your return?  Or are you filing a pre-2022 tax return?

    Agreed on deduction can no longer be claimed. The 'bug' does not impact the return. It does impact the year-to-year comparisons in Turbo Tax as it produces a negative Sch A. deduction. Annoying.
