Question

I don't think Turbotax gave me the full child tax credit?

Howdy.

I am married filing jointly, have 2 children between 6 and 17, and my AGI is less than $150,000.

If I understand correctly (according to https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/2021-child-tax-credit-and-advance-child-tax-credit-payments-topic-c-calculation-of-the-2021-child-tax-credit), I should be getting $3,000 per child, for a total of $6,000.

Turbotax is calculating the following for me:

Form 1040 Line 19 (Nonrefundable child tax credit) $1,000

Form 1040 Line 28 (Refundable child tax credit) $3,000

That's only $4,000, not $6,000.

So, what am I missing? What did I do wrong?

Thanks for the help!

    Nevermind. 🙂  TurboTax is right.

I was just misunderstanding. I looked at the calculations on Schedule 8812. Makes sense now.
