Question

I don't yet have the 2024 tax information from the French government for my Foreign Tax Credit (form 1116). Should I request an extension? If so, how?

    Yes, requesting an extension is a good idea if you don't have all the necessary information for your Foreign Tax Credit.

     

    Here's how you can do it in TurboTax:

     

    1. Sign in to TurboTax.
    2. Select File an extension in the menu or go to extension.
      • You can also select Tax Tools then Tools from the menu and choose File an extension.
    3. Follow the instructions to e-file your extension. Note: You can't file an extension after April 15, 2025.
