I drive a company vehicle but I have to pay for the gas to drive to various job locations, can I claim this as a expense?

Yes, you can claim your gasoline as well as any other out of pocket expenses associated with the company vehicle as an employee business expense.

However  to deduct this expense, you must itemize your deductions and it is limited to the 2% Adjusted  Gross Income limitation. When you enter it, TurboTax will give the maximum benefit, if any.

To report vehicle expenses in TurboTax:

  • Click My Account (Top right of your screen).
  • Select Tools.
  • In the pop up window, select Topic Search.
  • In the search bar, type in vehicle expenses employee
  • Highlight it and select GO, and follow the prompts.
