Question

I entered my property taxes twice by mistake. Does anyone know if there is a way or do I need to start over? Thank you!

Yes, you can correct everything that you enter in TurboTax without starting over.

I am assuming you are talking about the property taxes on your home. If that's not right, respond back with more details and TurboTax can help you further.

It's an easy mistake to make because when you enter your 1098-INT, there's a space for your property taxes. You can also directly enter your property taxes, thus doubling the amount.

Here's how to correct your property taxes in TurboTax Online:

  1. Open your return.
  2. Select Federal, then Deductions & Credits.
  3. Scroll down to Property (Real Estate) Taxes, select Edit.
  4. Answer the first question Yes.
  5. Continue until you get to the screen titled, Enter the property tax you paid in 2023.
  6. You can edit the amount under Property (real estate) taxes.
