Question

I filed my taxes and on the return it says credit for other dependents is checked instead of child tax credit

There are many reasons why you get the Other dependent credit rather than the Child tax credit. If you do not fit those cases, please check the information you have entered.

 

  1. Your child is 17 or older
  2. Your child has lived with you less than 6 months in 2019
  3. Your child has an ITIN (instead of a SSN).
