Question

I had a child in 2022, I made a little over $19,000, but I am only getting a "Additional Child Tax Credit" of $1500 rather than a "Child Tax Credit" of $2000, why?

You misunderstood how the credit works.   The full amount of the Child Tax Credit is $2000, but only a maximum of up to $1500 is added to your refund.  The other part of the credit is used to reduce the tax you owed.    If $1500 was added to your refund, you are getting as much as you are able to receive as part of your refund.

Look at your 2022 Form 1040 to see the child-related credits you received

If you don't owe any tax, you're not eligible for the Child Tax Credit this year.  It's a non-refundable credit that is applied to tax you owe.

However, you are eligible for the Additional Child Tax Credit, which is a refundable credit to you.
