I had solar panels installed in 2022 but the system was not approved and activated until 2023, can I still claim the credit for 2022?

The system was installed in December of 2022. The system was not inspected and given approval to be active until March of 2023. My loan to pay for the panels was active in December of 2022 but I did not start making payments on my loan for the panels until 2023.

Next year. The credit is claimed in the year the system is placed in service, which in your case was not until 2023. It is placed in service once it is activated and producing electricity - 2023.
