I pay the loan directly but the loan isn't in my name.

Yes - enter the name of the private person. Indicate that you don't have form 1098 on the following screen and answer Yes to Was this a Seller-financed Loan. The program will ask you additional questions about your private lender.

Note: You can deduct mortgage interest if the mortgage is a Secured Debt on a Qualified Home in which you have an ownership interest. Select blue links above for details.
