Question

I have Home/Office Edition. I bought $1,100 phone for biz use in 2022. I click on "take the annual election" & Nothing happens. No place to put in what I bought & cost.

So is this a glitch or am I just supposed to put this $1100.00 phone under Business expense since I am not depreciating it & want to take advantage of the annual election????

If you chose 'take the annual election' that means you want to take expenses less than $2500 as 'Business Expenses' rather than depreciate as Assets.  In this case, you would enter the phone you purchased as an expense.

If you want to report your Business Phone as a Business Asset instead, you will be presented with several ways to claim it, including claiming the entire cost in the first year of use.  You would need to uncheck the box to 'take the annual election' if you want to have a choice of how you claim assets/expenses for your business.

In the Business/Income Expenses section (type 'Schedule C' in the Search area to get there quickly), go the Assets section, choose 'Add an Asset' and Start.
