I have legal custody of someone child. How do I file to get earned income credit and child tax credit? The child is not related to me but has lived with me all year.

A foster child is an individual who is placed with you by an authorized placement agency or by judgment, decree, or other order of any court of competent jurisdiction.

You claim the child as "My Child" which includes Foster child, the next screen has a foster child box to check.

Has the child been placed with you by a government agency or court as a foster child?
