I have no foreign income, but turbo tax is requiring me to fill out a form 1116

TurboTax may be asking this question is you have foreign tax paid from dividends.

 

Do you have a 1099-DIV with an amount in Box 7 (foreign tax paid)? If so, and you don't want to claim a foreign tax credit, you can remove that amount.

  1. Type dividends in Search in the top right
  2. Click Jump to dividends
  3. Select Review on Review your 1099-DIV info
  4. Remove the Box 7 amount
