I imported my 2018 tax return which led me to "ok, we've got your info!" and the info is incorrect, for instance it says I got Earned Income Credit last year-I didn't.

I'm not sure why you are seeing that. If you have any carryover losses, such as capital losses or unallowed rental losses, you should look to see if they carried over properly. Otherwise, mostly what is carried over is basic information such as addresses, sources of income, names and the such.

As you work through the program you should check to see if the information appearing from last year's return is correct. If so, then you should be alright.

could you have multiple accounts?  some taxpayers do and start return in one a/c.  then can't find it and start the return over in another a/c.
