Question

I just received a refund check that I am not eligible for. It looks like the the total for my 2017 tax return that I paid. What should I do?

According to the IRS if you receive a check that you are not eligible for you should NOT cash it until you receive a separate letter explaining why you received the check.  If you do not get a letter in the next several days, you should call the IRS at 800-829-1040.
