I leased an electric vehicle in 2024, does this count as buying for tax purposes?

    No, you cannot claim the tax credit for leasing an electric vehicle.  

     

    You do not own the vehicle through its purchase.  Instead, the leasing company is the owner and could be eligible for the tax credit.
