Question

I live in NH, purchased a wood stove, and was told there was a tax credit for this at purchase. Where do I enter that information?

    Your wood stove may qualify for the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Tax Credit. 

     

    In TurboTax, you'll enter the details about your purchase in the Deductions & Credits section. Look for Home Energy Credits under the Your Home section.

     

    For tax year 2024, you can claim up to 30% of the cost of qualified biomass stoves (like your wood stove) with a thermal efficiency rating of at least 75%. The maximum credit is $2,000 and should be taken for the year the stove is installed. Installation costs qualify for the credit.
