Question

I live in ohio, my employer offers me health insurance, they pay a PORTION of it, I pay for the rest. Can I deduct the premiums of my health insurance I pay for as medical expenses? I know I can't for federal, but can I for the state of Ohio?

It might be possible on your Federal Return, but unfortunately not for Ohio.  If you paid for the medical premiums with after-tax income, you may claim them along with other medical expenses as itemized deductions if you can benefit from that.  (You cannot claim pre-tax premiums because it has already lowered your taxable income).  But, unfortunately, Ohio does not have itemized or even direct deductions of any sort.  The following link gives more information:  http://www.taxesindepth.com/state-taxes-Ohio.html
