Question

I'm entering my 1098 form and it says i have a outstanding mortgage principal but i sold my home in january 2024, should it say 0?

    The program is asking you for your mortgage balance on January 1, 2024 (or, for someone who took out the loan in 2024, the original amount of the loan).  The amount should be reported in Box 2 of your Form 1098.
