Question

I'm under fellowship and need to estimate federal tax quarterly. I'm under a treaty between China and USA (no federal tax for first 3 years), do I need to file 1040ES?

If you are an international student , what visa are you on and when did you first enter the US?  Many thanks.

Hi, I'm talking about 2019 estimated tax report. I become Resident this year, and I'm asking about the first quarter 1040ES in 2019.

If you are a J1 scholar, you have not been in the US for the last 2 years or part years for 2018 taxes.

If you are a J1 student, you have not been in the US for the last 5 years or part years for 2018 taxes.

Either way you are a nonresident for tax purposes for 2018.

TurboTax does not support nonresident returns.

However we have a partnership with Sprintax offering a nonresident tax filing solution to our TurboTax customers.

Visit the TurboTax/Sprintax site for more info or to get started
