I made a donation via QCD. How do I enter in TurboTax?

If you are over 70 1/2 and enter a 1099R for a IRA distribution it will ask if it was a Qualified Charitable Distribution.  Be sure you check the little IRA box between boxes 7&8.  It will show up on the 1040 line 4b as 0 with the QCD by it.

when you check you made an RMD then as you are entering the 1099-R you should be asked about the QCD, it directly reduces the taxable portion of the RMD. do not enter it as a charitable deduction on schedule A.

There is no requirement that a QCD be an RMD.

If the distribution was from a traditional IRA and you were over age 70½ in 2023, the online version of 2023 TurboTax will present a checkbox on the the Do any of these situations apply to you page that you must mark to indicate that the distribution was paid to charity.
