Question

I moved from Alaska to Washington for a job. I am nonmilitary and my employer paid for nothing. Can I deduct the cost of the move?

No.

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act eliminates the deduction for moving beginning with the 2018 tax return year unless you are active-duty military or ordered to move because of a permanent change of station order.

Please see the attached for more information.
