Question

I paid my property tax in California. But I didn't get any 1098 document for this payment. I made payment in the county's gov website. How can I calculate and fill it?

Answers to your questions.

1. To calculate: Many counties have all the property tax data online so it is easy to look up. Yours might. You can always call the assessors office and ask. They might be willing to send you a receipt.Do you have a bank or credit card statement showing the withdrawal?  Keep a record with your taxes, just in case of audit.

 

2. To input:

  1. Go to the federal section
  2. To Deductions and Credits
  3. locate Property (Real Estate) Taxes
  4. Click Edit/Start
  5. Enter the property taxes you paid in 2019
  6. Enter the amounts
