If you were paid by a check with no FICA taxes taken out, you will need to claim this as self-employment income because of the amount of money you earned. Here is an IRS link that provides more information about income and expenses you can claim against the income. Meanwhile, you will need to upgrade to Turbo Tax Self-Employed to report the income and expenses. Once that is done:

  1. Log into Turbo Tax

  2. Go to federal>wages and income>Self-employment income and expenses

  3. As you scroll through the questions, it will ask Tell us the type of self-employment work you do? Daycare.

  4. Now just follow the questions especially when you get to the income and expenses section.
