I purchased a travel trailer in 2016. can I write off the sales tax and interest?

You can definitely deduct the sales tax:

  1. Federal Taxes (Personal Self Employed version)
  2. Deductions and Credits
  3. Scroll down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid, select sales tax

As to the interest, you can deduct the interest as mortgage interest (data entry below) if the trailer meets a definition of a 2nd home: it must have sleeping, cooking and toilet facilities. Otherwise, the interest is personal and not tax deductible.
