Question

I put too much into charity donations for 2021, it wont let me alter how much money i give to each charity to fix this. how do i alter this to fix the issue before I file

when i review the error it says i have exceeded the amount i have to offer. when i go to change it it only shows me the sheet, and wont let me alter the amount i need to change.

Not sure what kind of too much error would show on the review pages.

BUT

IF the software won't let you change it there...the safest way for what you do instead, is to navigate back to the Charity Donations section on the Deductions&Credits page and when you go in there to edit it, that will show each charity that you donated to in a table, and can Edit any selected one.......or delete the charity entirely and add it in again with the proper values. Be careful to NOT use any commas when putting in $$ amounts.
