Question

I seem to qualify 100% for the $2,000 child tax credit but for some reason it's saying that I'm only getting $79. Can anyone explain to me why?

First the CTC on line 19 is used to reduce any taxability you have down to zero.   Then if there is anything left, it can be put on line 28 as the additional child tax credit.    The maximum amount of the ACTC is $1700.

Look at your 2024 Form 1040 to see the child-related credits you received
