Question

I sold my home last year(2016). In 2015 I had an office and was able for a deducted on that office space. I did not have that office last year, however. How do I record that I sold a house that had business use the year prior?

In other words. Where do I find the section where I record I sold a house that has an office. Assuming I need to pay taxes on that deduction, even though I only used it in 2015 (selling in 2016).

You report the sale of a Personal Residence in the "Less Common Income" section under the Personal tab.

When you report the sale you will get questions regarding if you ever took depreciation on the home (as a rental or Office in the Home) and you will enter those amounts here.

TurboTax will then determine the recapture of the depreciation than needs to take place on your return.
