I sold my house last year, where would i report the home improvements (paint, carpet, windows, major appliances ect...).

Maintenance (like painting) doesn't count, but improvements would be added to the basis, so if you purchased a house for 150,000 and added 25,000 in appliances, roofing, flooring, your new cost basis would be 175,000. The program will ask for your basis after you report the sale/1099-S.
