Question

I want to add my property tax statement. I can't seem to get into where the documents are to add this without amending my whole return.

If you have already filed your return, there's no way to add another form without filing an amended return. In the case of this particular form, it may not need to be amended because it is not required to report your property tax and may not help you federally if you are not itemizing your deductions. It may help on your state return, depending on where you live, as many states do have some form of credit for taxpayers who pay property taxes.

If you have not yet filed your return, you may add your property taxes following these steps:

  1. In the Federal > Deductions & Credits section of your return, scroll down to Your Home and click Start/Revisit next to Property (Real Estate) Taxes
  2. Enter your property taxes in the first field Additional property (real estate) taxes
