Why did you receive the Form 1099?  There are almost two dozen different 1099's which one did you receive?

Form 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC, 1099-R, 1099-S, SSA-1099, etc.

Did you have self-employment income?   Do you have a 1099NEC?   What travel expenses are you asking about?   If you have self-employment income then you need to be using online Premier or any version of the CD/download software in order to prepare a Schedule C for business expenses such as milage driven while working.   Commuting to and from work is never deductible.   You may be eligible for the child tax credit and/or earned income credit, depending on the income you enter.

Yes---you have self-employment income.  Yes, you might be able to get child tax credit and/or earned income credit.  The amounts will depend on how much you earned.

If you have self-employment income for which you will pay self-employment tax for Social Security and Medicare,  you will need to use online Premium software or any version of the CD/download so that you can prepare a Schedule C for your business expenses.
