In 2016 I paid for my LTC premium trough my HSA.  Since I used my HSA am I correct that I cannot deduct the premium separately?

No, you cannot get reimbursed from your Health Savings Account (HSA) and claim the long-term care insurance premiums on your Schedule A, Itemized Deductions. That would be double dipping.

What if the LTC premium exceeds the allowable reimbursement amount from your HSA?  Can you claim the remaining premium as a medical expense on your taxes?
