Question

If I raised $3,200 for a charity to run a marathon, does this count as money donated since it was gathering donations from others?

No.

You did not pay anything out of pocket and had no actual expenses.  Therefore, even though you ran for charity, the money you raised would not be a tax deduction for you unless you personally made a donation.

Only your personal donation would be considered a tax deduction.
