If you work out the country since April of 2023, does the Foreign Earned Income apply?

You will qualify for the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion once you have been out of the country for 330 out of 365 days.  Depending on the exact date you departed the US and any visits made back to the US, that could be now or sometime within the next few weeks.

When entering your time out of the US into TurboTax use the date range to include the years that will allow you to qualify but are in 2024.  For example, if you moved on April 3 2023 you would let TurboTax know that you had been out of the US from 4/3/2023 through 4/3/2024.  You will be eligible for a pro-rated amount of the exclusion based on the number of days out of the US that fall within the tax year.

Thank you for the info. I left the country for work on 4/19/23. Would that count or is that outside of the tax filing date?

Yes, if you are still in the foreign country and met the 330 days, it would count.  As Susan stated, you would be eligible for a prorated exclusion for the tax year which runs from Jan 1 to Dec 31.

So basically, when you walk through in TurboTax, you will enter the date you first spent a full 24 hours in the foreign country and your exclusion will be prorated based on that.
