In 2018 I worked as an au pair, I earned $5872.50 . Do I owe taxes since I earned less than $12,000? Do I still file for taxes?

UPDATED FOR TAX YEAR 2019

No - You don't have to file a federal tax return since you earned less than $12,200, unless your employer withheld taxes and you want to get those back.

You may have to file a state return.  I suggest checking with the state Dept. of Revenue website.  Please see this TurboTax article for more information:  Do I need to file a state return?
