Everyone receives the Standard Deduction on their tax return.  Unless the itemized deductions entered on Schedule A are greater than the Standard Deduction for your filing status, then the itemized deductions will be used.

Standard deductions for 2023

  • Single - $13,850 add $1,850 if age 65 or older
  • Married Filing Separately - $13,850 add $1,500 if age 65 or older
  • Married Filing Jointly - $27,700 add $1,500 for each spouse age 65 or older
  • Head of Household - $20,800 add $1,850 if age 65 or older

Income is entered by clicking on Federal and then clicking on Wages & Income when using the online editions.

If you have income from self-employment then you need to be using the Premium online edition - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/online/premium/

Did you file it yet?  Everyone gets the Standard Deduction even if you don't have any income.  What is the problem?  Do you need to enter your income?   What kind of income?  If you don't have any income you probably don't have to file a tax return.

To enter a W2
Federal on left or top (Personal in Home & Business)
Click on Wages and Income tab
Then Wages and Salaries
Wages and Salaries – Start (you might have to click on Show More on right)

To enter a W2 manually do NOT enter the EIN
Just hit Continue
Then in pick the Left box - Type it in myself - Continue

"....I never saw a space to input my numbers....."

Please explain that.  Did you not enter any income anywhere?    What kind of income did you receive in 2023?
