Question

In the past ive listed our job related expenses. Will it affect anything now or in the future if I do not claim them this year since im claiming standard deduction?

Im worried that my numbers will suddenly change if i dont list them, but im trying to hurry up and just file my taxes asap so it would save me some time if I dont have to list everything.

How far in the past? Deductions for job related expense have not been allowed for regular W-2 employees since 2017.  Don't bother to enter expenses, they make no difference UNLESS you live in a state that allows job deductions on the state return.  

 

If you are self employed (Schedule C, sole proprietorship) you get to deduct your job expenses even if you use the standard deduction.  That is, business expenses are in addition to the full standard deduction.
