Is car registration fee the same as property tax I pay yearly on my vehicle?

If the registration fees break out the taxes on the vehicle based on the value of the vehicle then those would be deductible.

If the registration fees do not break out the taxes on the vehicle then you do not deduct registration fees.

As stated if you paid the personal property taxes based on the value of the vehicle then you can enter those taxes in the TurboTax section for personal property taxes.

Deductible property tax can be included with car registration fees.  Your car registration fee is deductible if it’s a yearly fee based on the value of your vehicle and you itemize your deductions.

 

You can’t deduct the total amount you paid, only the portion of the fee that’s based on your vehicle’s value.

 

In addition, not all states have value-based registration fees. Refer to the following list linked here to check your state.
