Yes, major dental care costs that may be included in your medical expenses for tax purposes include dental surgery, braces, extractions and artificial teeth. In addition, routine and preventive dental care such as teeth cleaning and visits to your dentist are allowable.

In TurboTax, please do the following:

  • Click Federal Taxes
  • Click Deductions & Credits
  • Medical, click Show more
  • Medical Expenses, click Start
  • Did you have any medical expenses in 2016?, Yes
