Is home ownership the same as owning a Mobile Home in a Mobile Home Park where you pay lot rent?

Do you have a mortgage and pay interest on it? If so, you can enter the interest you paid. Rent is not a deduction on a federal return. There are a few states in which you might be able to claim the lot rent on a state return. If you are in one of those states look for it on the state return you prepare.

As far as I know, the states that have anything for rent are Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington DC, and Wisconsin.
