Question

Is Personal Protective Equipment still deductible as a medical expense in 2022?

In 2021 PPE was deductible as a medical expense.  I realize one must hit the threshold of 7.5% or above, but I would like to know if it is deductible for the 2022 taxes.  Thank you in advance.

Yes, you can still include in medical expenses the amounts you pay for personal protective equipment, such as masks, hand sanitizer and hand sanitizing wipes, for the primary purpose of preventing the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). For more information, see IRS Announcement 2021-7.

These items are included in the list of deductible expenses in Publication 502 (2022), Medical and Dental Expenses.
