Is the personal property tax based on vehicle value deductible if it is a state law applied at the local level? VA law taxes based on annual value through the counties.

Yes, if you pay personal property tax on your vehicle in Virginia that is charged annually and based on the value of your vehicle, you can deduct that amount paid. 

  • Go to the top of your screen and choose My Account.
  • Choose Tools.
  • Choose Topic Search, then type in your topic (personal property taxes) and click Go. Continue following the prompts
