Is there a deduction for in home care provided to a non dependent family member ?

It depends. If you would have been able to claim this person as a dependent on your return except that they had income greater than $4,300, then yes, you can claim the expenses you paid for your non dependent family member. 

 

If you do not provide more than half of their support and you simply helped out with in home care costs, then no, you cannot claim their medical portion of the in home care costs.
