Question

Is there a problem with Charitable donations being uploaded to Turbo Tax 2017 from itsdeductibleonline.com?

I am using TurboTax 2017 and am unable to upload Charitable Donations from Itsdeductibleonline.  When I click on the prompt to connect to Itsdeductibleonline, TurboTax says there is a problem with Internet Connection and I don't even get to the page where I can enter my User ID etc. I know that there is no Internet connection issue at my place, because I am able to log into Itsdeductibleonline separately without any issues.  It is just that TurboTax is not connecting to Itsdeductibleonline. Please help!

It's important to note that you are using the Deluxe desktop version for Mac, which I saw in your other question.

I'll see if someone using a Mac can help you today, or if you end up phoning Support for your other problem, you can get them to help you with this, too.

@macuser_22 Are you aware of why this might be happening?  Thanks.

Are you sure your program is up to date?   See your other thread where I mentioned making sure you are not running the program with the CD in the drive.  Remove it, then restart, open TurboTax, and auto-update.

@turboaz
Oh good grief.  Forget what I said about trying a different browser.  In the desktop version, a browser is not needed.  Sorry for the confusion.  I removed that statement.

In your other thread you said you had the CD in the drive.  So hopefully, removing it and performing those other maneuvers (restarting the computer and letting TurboTax auto-update) solved this problem, too.

@turboaz
Can you please explain what your solution was so it can help other users who might encounter this issue.

@epo39b - As you suggested, here is a gist of the solution to the problem that I was having with transferring itsdeductible donation information to Turbo tax. I have a MacBook laptop, so the guidance below is for Mac. The Help desk person, at Intuit/turbo tax on the phone, helped me resolve the problem. Firstly, the User ID's have to be the same for TT & itsdeductible.
Second, click on the Finder, go to Applications on the Mac - and then in the Application box, there is a Search box (upper right corner), type in "Keychain password" - this should pop up as a keychain icon (shows as a bunch of keys), once you have this icon, click twice on it and it will bring up a list of keychain passwords. Arrange them alphabetically and then delete only those keychain passwords with "Intuit" in them - (my Mac had password keychains from last year and from April and apparently, these were interfering with my current TT).  Once you do that, then close ALL your open windows one by one and RESTART your computer.  Restart Turbo tax - Now when you get to the Deductions page and you want to go to the itsdeductible site, there should be a pop-up box asking you for the ID and Password.  Things should go smoothly from there as they did for me.  Thanks again to the person on the Helpline - could not have done this without her.

Oh, so it was a keychain password problem.   Thanks for providing that info and how to correct it.   I'll tell a Moderator about your good support experience so they can thank the agent who assisted you.   Good luck!
