Question

It says I do not qualify for teacher expenses because I said I had none earlier, but where did I say that?

Did you say that for the educator deduction?

TEACHER EXPENSES

Go to Federal>Deductions and Credits>Employment Expenses>Teacher (Educator) Expenses

To go to the section of the tax return to revisit your educator expenses, use these steps:

  • On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)
  • This opens a box where you can type in “educator expenses deduction” (be sure to enter exactly as shown here) and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)
  • The search results will give you an option to “Jump to educator expenses deduction
  • Click on the blue “Jump to educator expenses deduction” link and enter your information

Thanks. Apparently I answered no to teacher expenses when just beginning to file this year, when turbo tax asks all the questions before setting up appropriate parts. I can only change this by deleting everything I’ve inputted done far and starting over!! Ridiculous!
