It sounds like you may have answered "yes" to the question "Did You Make Any Money Outside the United States?"

You are required to report foreign income on your taxes if you are a US citizen or resident, regardless of if it was earned in the US or abroad.

If you don't have foreign income, you can go back through the screens and answer that question "No".

To do this using TurboTax Desktop:

    1. Open or continue your return.
    2. In the search bar, search for "foreign income".
    3. Select the Jump to link in the search results.
    4. Answer "No" to "Did You Make Any Money Outside the United States?" And follow the on-screen instructions.      (See screenshots below for additional guidance)

To do this using TurboTax Online:

    1. Open or continue your return.
    2. Select "wages & Income"
    3. In the search bar above "wages & salaries", search for "foreign income
    4. Click on the (down) caret next to "Less Common Income"
    5. Then select "Revisit" after "Foreign Earned Income and Exclusion"
    6. Answer" No" to "Did You Make Any Money Outside the United States?" And follow the on-screen instructions.    (See screenshots below for additional guidance)

It will look like this if you are using TurboTax Desktop:

In TurboTax Online it will look like this:

It's also possible that after entering your Form W-2 that you selected "Worked outside of the US " on the subsequent screen.

When you enter a Form W-2, after you input it, you will get a screen that says "Let's Check for Uncommon Situations". ‌If you did not work outside the US, or none of the listed situations apply, you should answer "None of these apply to me"

To check this in TurboTax Desktop:

    1. Open your return
    2.  In the Search bar, enter "W-2" and select the "Jump to" link. This will take you to your W-2 entries
    3. Select the (down) caret next to your W-2 and then select "Edit"    (See screenshot below for additional guidance)
    4. Continue through the screens until you get to the screen "Let's check for uncommon situations"
    5. Select "None of these apply to me" and continue

To check this in TurboTax Online:

    1. Open your return
    2. Go to "Wages and Income"
    3. Under W-2's select "Add/Edit" next to your W-2      (See screenshots below for additional guidance)
    4. Continue through the screens until you get to the screen "Let's check for uncommon situations"
    5. Select "None of these apply to me" and continue
