Based upon PDF (Complete with calcs) - In previous year, I donated $33.00, and this year $25.00 (inputted value).  But the "Charitable Organization Worksheet" shows $33.00 for this/last years.  On the Kansas State form, the $25.00 value I inputted is correct (36. Chickadee Checkoff $25.00). Pics show this SNAFU

But from your brief description, that sounds like TTX is handling it correct.

    1) Last year, during 2024, when making up your KS tax filing, you made a $33 contribution to a state check-off charity.  That donation was done during 2024....so it gets added to the 2024 Federal tax return (being prepared now) as a donation made during 2024.

    2)  On this year's KS tax form, you are doing similar.  Donating $25 to a KS charity, and that $25 shows your 2024 KS tax return.......BUT, since the donation is being made in 2025, it doesn't get entered on the Federal tax return as a charitable contribution, until you prepare your 2025 Federal tax return in early 2026.

It's the same thing as any other charitable donation you make now, during 2025.

    i.e. Not a bug.

TTX does the same thing for my NC state check-off donations on the 2023 taxes I filed in 2024.  If I transfer last year's (2023) tax file into this year's 2024 TTX software, it automatically knows to enter that prior year's NC tax form donation on this year's Federal Charitable donation list.

Just report the charitable contribution you actually made.

When a programmer uses the phrase "Prior year" in the year 2025, this suggests a previous year, and each viewer will not be on the same page.  But, as shown below, consumers are informed.  Hence, the programmer's reference frame for the phrase "Prior Year Total" was ambiguous when viewed from a consumer's lens.  I would conclude the programmer was not explicit.
