I live and work in Texas. I pay taxes according to living in Texas. Due to my divorce, I own a home in Louisiana where i fly back to every other weekend for 4-5 days to keep my kids in our home. I pay private school in LA as well.
is there anything i can do to be able to write off this travel?

if not, is there a way for me to be able to write this off? Do i need a llc in La, a rental property?

Q. If i had an llc and some rentals for instance would i then be able to write some of it off, etc. ?

A. No.  Taking care of business property would have to be the primary reason for the travel.  Your primary reason is clearly personal.  At best, you have have to have a specific and solid business reason for each trip, e.g. "meet with contractor for remodel project".  Even then, it would be suspect.

You might want to consult a financial advisor to educate you about the pros and cons in your situation.
